MOKOENA’S SEKHUKHUNE FUTURE UNCERTAIN

-

Concerns have been raised about Luckyboy Mokoena’s future with Sekhukhune United, with the player struggling for game-time in the team.

Having joined Babina Noko in January, after parting ways with TS Galaxy, Mokoena had high hopes about reviving his career. However, the defender has struggled to break into MacDonald Makhubedu’s lineups and his contract is nearing its end.

And indications are that the player is concerned about his future with the club. In joining Sekhukhune, Mokoena signed a six-month contract, with an option to extend for two years.

Speaking to the Siya crew, Mokoena’s representative, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi from Rush Hour Sports Management, said that the right back is doing everything he can in training to impress the coach.

“All I can say is that Luckyboy Mokoena is one of the best defenders in the league and, for me, he can walk into any team any day and be a regular. The boy is working very hard in training and is waiting for his chance to play. Luckyboy is a top defender and a very good crosser of the ball and that’s why I believe that he can walk into any team and that’s why he was wanted by (Kaizer) Chiefs, (Orlando) Pirates and SuperSport United at some point.

“But as you know, each and every club has its own way of doing things, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Luckyboy is a top defender. For a defender, he is so skillful and is very comfortable on the ball,” said Mulovhedzi.

“About the contract and his future with the club, it’s true that his contract is nearing an end, but we are in no rush, and we are giving Sekhukhune United first preference. The club will make a decision on what they want, and we will take it from there. The reason we decided on Sekhukhune in the first place was because they showed us that they are an ambitious club and they made us a good offer.

“There had been interest from Swallows FC, but the offer from Sekhukhune was too good to turn down,” the intermediary added.
