Tlolane unlikely to get Pirates stay

-

Tebogo Tlolane’s future at Orlando Pirates does not look promising, with the player entering into the last year of his contract at the end of the current campaign.

The utility player was amongst six players signed by the Buccan

eers in 2019, following a bright

season with Chippa United. At the time, Pirates fended off interest from other suitors within the PSL to land his signature.

However, despite arriving to much fanfare and excitement, Tlolane has largely struggled for regular game-time under different coaches at the club, in Rhulani Mokwena, Josef Zinnbauer and the current co-coaches, Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids, having made just two league appearances to his name so far this season.

Since joining the club, he has enjoyed two loan spells with Maritzburg United, where he was one of the club’s regular performers, which led to a recall to Pirates at the end of last season.

The left-back berth is an area where the Houghton-based outfit have thrived, with the likes of Paseka Mako, Bongani Sam and Innocent Maela vying for a place, which has made it difficult for the 27-year-old to have a look-in this campaign.

Now, the latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Tlolane is set to enter into the last year of his contract with the Soweto giants, and indications are that the player is highly unlikely to have his deal extended

Siya sources have indicated that Tlolane is amongst those expected to make way at the club.

“It’s clear that things haven’t quite worked out for the boy, which is sad because he is a good player with a good attitude. He has shown whenever he has gone out on loan that he is a quality player and that he can deliver, so I have very little doubt that he will get regular game-time wherever he goes next. But what is clear is that there is no future for him at Pirates,” a source told the Siya crew.
