Player of the Season contender?
The impact of Dolly since he returned to South Africa has been so impressive that he may even be a contender for the PSL Footballer of the Season award. Whilst Peter Shalulile and Andile Jali of Mamelodi Sundowns may be the frontrunners, the nimble-footed player could be the third favourite as it stands (assuming he maintains or improves his form between now and towards the end of May).
He deserves credit for the hunger he has shown coming back to the PSL because many returning overseas players perhaps look more concerned with a final payday than delivering their best performances. He has played 86% of the available league minutes, which is testimony to his improved conditioning, for which the player and the Chiefs conditioning and coaching staff both deserve credit. Going forward, he will be a key player for the next few years at Amakhosi and he could deliver even more assists if a ruthless finisher were to be signed.
Hugo Broos will surely lean heavily on him in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, with a place on the right wing perhaps having his name written on it. All the doubters on social media talked about his one goal in three years in France and the fact that he had come off a number of serious injuries. He has proven everyone wrong with a fine season so far. The Glamour Boys have taken 32 points from their last 15 league matches, with 10 wins, and a lot of that is down to the creativity and ruthless finishing of Keagan Dolly. We can safely say that Amakhosi’s jersey number 10 is back to his best!
