Dolly’s Chiefs form so far

-

Prior to arriving at Amakhosi, he had played 89 career matches in the PSL with just 10 goals scored. After 20 outings in the league since arriving at the club, he already has seven goals in the famous Black and Gold shirt. Whilst two of those have been penalties, it is a still an impressive haul. He had never scored more than four goals in a league season in his career before this season and, as mentioned, it was three years without a single strike for Montpellier.

Aside from his new-found scoring boots, Dolly has also assisted five goals for Amakhosi. He has been used by Stuart Baxter as an inside right number 10, picking up pockets behind the opposition midfield. That right half-space is where he has thrived, with his through balls a particular feature. He has attempted 49 dribbles this season, beating his man with 21 of those, but dribbling is not really his game these days but instead it’s about his final pass, which is amongst the best in the PSL. He has made 34 key passes this term, the most in the PSL (tied-level with teammate Khama Billiat and just ahead of Junior Mendieta and Deon Hotto). He has also fired off 41 shots, the third-most in the division, with 19 hitting the target. He had a bit of a slow start to Chiefs life as coach Baxter admitted that he was overweight and needed to shed the kilograms in training. The first five league matches of the campaign brought no goals or assists, before six goals and three assists in an eight-match hot streak. Since mid-December, he has seen a bit of a dip as he went six matches without scoring before his fine freekick against Chippa United

last Saturday.
