Chiefs closing in on Chippa’s Zulu?

-

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be closing in on Chippa United defender Veluyeke Zulu, as the Soweto giants plan for next season.

Following their unsuccessful campaign with no trophies again this season, the Glamour Boys are expected to undergo a squad overhaul in an attempt to bring back the glory days to Naturena and to please the multitude of Amakhosi fans.

And the impressive Chippa centre-back is one of the players that the club is targeting, according to wellplaced Siya sources.

Zulu has been a livewire for the Chilli Boys this season, having featured in 20 league matches with 19 starts, while collecting a few Man of the Match awards along the way, despite the Gqeberha outfit’s inconsistent performances.

While Amakhosi have strongly been linked to Cameroonian forward Bienvenu Eva Nga, who has scored 10 goals for Chippa so far in the current campaign, the club is looking to secure Zulu’s signature, which could see the two current teammates link up at Naturena next season.

“Kaizer Chiefs is in discussions with Chippa United for the services of defender Veluyeke Zulu. The boy has been impressive for Chippa and has caught the eye of Chiefs scouts with his performances and a possible move for him to the Soweto giants is being discussed,” said a source.

“Chippa United chairman Chippa Mpengesi was at Chiefs’ Village in Naturena last week and part of his visit there was to discuss the player’s possible transfer. Chiefs want two players from Chippa and the other one is Bienvenu Eva Nga, who has been scoring goals for the team,” the source added.

It remains to be seen if the Soweto giants do secure the two players, in what could be two strong signings for them.
