Chiefs, Zuma showdown talks!

-

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to open up a conversation on the future of Dumisani Zuma from Wednesday, two days after suspending him from all activities.

On Monday, the Glamour Boys confirmed via a statement on their club’s website that the attacker had violated the internal code of conduct and immediately omitted him from the matchday squad ahead of hosting Marumo Gallants.

With Zuma having finally made his first appearance in Amakhosi colours in 10 months, when he came off the bench against Stellenbosch FC and also scored in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Cape Town City at the weekend, it was expected he would again play a role.

But Chiefs said the hierarchy had been left no choice other than to drop him from their DStv Premiership fixture against Gallants on Tuesday (played after the Soccer Laduma print deadline).

Soccer Laduma has since established that another hearing is set to take place at Naturena between Zuma and the club.

It’s expected that the 26-year-old will be represented by his agent Basia Michaels, who is also an attorney by profession.

According to sources at Chiefs, management is divided on which direction to take on the Pietermaritzburg-born lad, having previously suspended him from all football activities back in November for allegedly driving under the influence.

He was later cleared after the matter was dealt with internally and the player was forced to undergo rehabilitation.

The Amakhosi hierarchy will also have to address the apparent discord between Zuma and interim head coach Arthur Zwane – the Siya crew has been informed that two had an altercation, which had an influence in the player being suspended.

Zuma remains contracted to Chiefs until June 2023, so it remains to be seen how the latest episode will impact his future.
