NYATAMA TO DOUBLE UP AS ASSISTANT COACH?

-

The Siya crew has been informed that Musa Nyatama is set to take up a dual role at Swallows FC this season.

Surprisingly, the 34-year-old was understood to have been part of a long list of players expected to depart the club at the end of the season, as they try and navigate the club’s financial woes and refresh the playing personnel.

However, it appears that the club have plans for Nyatama beyond his playing career.

Having made 25 appearances for the club last season, the veteran midfielder remains a Swallows player. However, Siya sources have informed the crew that the former Orlando Pirates man will form part of the club’s technical team next season.

According to a source, Nyatama is expected to line up as coach Dylan Kerr’s second assistant coach for the new campaign and has already started taking up that role in pre-season.

The club has similarly deployed Thela Thela (previously Ngobeni) in a similar role, as a goalkeeper coach.

Nyatama is expected to replace former Swallows assistant coach Simo Dladla, who has been appointed as a new head coach of Uthongathi FC, while Fani Madida is expected to retain his place as Kerr’s first assistant coach.
