Short-term deal for Parker?

-

The Siya crew has been led to believe that SuperSport United are going to give Bernard Parker a shortterm deal, with Gavin Hunt looking at bringing the experienced campaigner into the side.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Hunt has been interested in signing the former Kaizer Chiefs veteran, having worked with the 35-year-old at Naturena. Hunt, in fact, has been an admirer of Parker since his days at Bidvest Wits and looks set to give the experienced forward a chance at top-flight football again after he was let go by Amakhosi.

It’s believed that Matsatsantsa will offer Parker a one-year deal, to see how things go in the coming campaign. Hunt, who confirmed that Onismor Bhasera will be his captain in the coming season, has inherited a young squad compared to the one he had during his first spell with the Tshwane outfit.

While Hunt has the likes of Thamsanqa Gabuza and Bradley Grobler to bank on for experience, he feels that he would love to add Parker to the squad to help guide the younger players in the team while also making sure the team can compete with the top sides in the league.

“Bernard is training with us. Obviously, I am trying to do something there. I think he is a fantastic player, but that’s something we will see,” Hunt said recently to the media about Parker.

SuperSport have so far br o ug in Thulani Hlatshwayo, Ricardo Goss, Thabang Sibanyoni and Grant Margeman, and Parker could be the next to secure a deal.
