ANOTHER ETHIOPIAN LINKED TO THE PSL
With Mamelodi Sundowns expected to officially announce the signing Ethiopian international Abubeker Nassir, his countryman Amanuel Gebremichael has also been linked with a move to Mzansi.
Gebremichael is on the back of a successful season with Ethiopian giants Saint George, where they won the league title.
The 23-year-old striker, who can also play as a winger, scored two goals as his team defeated Addis Ababa City FC 4-0 in their last match of the season last month on their way to be crowned as the champions.
The player’s performances have impressed scouts from around Africa and in Mzansi, with a few PSL outfits believed to be keen on his services.
“Maritzburg United, Cape Town City and Stellenbosch FC have showed interest in Amanuel Gebremichael,” revealed a source.
“This player has done really well and has been consistent. He has also attracted interest from RS Berkane of Morocco, who played in the CAF Confederation Cup final against Orlando Pirates earlier this year.
“This is an Ethiopian international with more than 20 caps for the national team. He was the Ethiopian Player of the Year at the end of the 2018/19 season, having finished as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals that year for Mekelle 70 Enderta FC,” the source added.
