Downs waiting on Zungu’s call

-

The Siya crew has been reliably informed that Mamelodi Sundowns are confident of landing the signature of Bongani Zungu, with a more than satisfactory offer on the table for the 29-year-old.

Zungu’s wait for a European move has taken longer than expected, following his exit from French Ligue 2 Amiens when his contract expired at the end of July. He has been prioritizing a move to Europe, but it’s understood that there have been concerns that not many concrete offers have come his way.

Soccer Laduma recently reported that the Brazilians are closing in on the former University of Pretoria player, with the Tshwane giants apparently making sure that they give the player the type of money that would make him overlook a move back to Europe.

Sundowns, though, are just waiting for a final decision from the player and won’t put any pressure on him to make a final call, as they know how difficult a decision it is for the Duduza-born star.

It’s understood that a three-year deal is on the table for the lanky midfield star, with an option to extend.

The Chloorkop-based outfit see Zungu as a player that can help inspire them to CAF Champions League success, having also brought in Sipho Mbule and Ronwen Williams from Ts rivals SuperSport United.

Zungu left Sundowns in 2016 to play in Portugal, before having spells in France and Scotland.
