AMAKHOSI CONFIDENT AND CONCERNED

-

If all goes according to plan, Zwane will turn Chiefs into Amaberete (police unit known for wearing berets), whereby teams are terrorised weekend after weekend. Just a word of caution, please don’t be a blabbermouth like Rhulani was at Pirates, where he turned into a villain, because typical avid South African soccer fans relate to a humble person/coach more than an arrogant somebody. As an upcoming coach, I was surprised to see you hanging out with MacDonald Makhubedu, a failure of note, who previously criticised the biggest institution in SA soccer as “an ordinary team” under the tutelage of Komphela. Get advice from the likes of Pitso – you have to pay the school fees! Still, the departure of Die Hond hurts me, but I got solace that maybe it was not your decision but a management one to reduce the wage bill. Simanga “Rush Hour” Chiloane, Riversands Block 1

I think, as South Africans, we need to believe in our coaches’ philosophy and the development players. South Africa can compete internationally. Chiefs did a good job by appointing Zwane and Pirates should have appointed Malesela. Look at Sundowns, with our local coaches, they are dominating the game, winning everything. Let’s believe in ourselves, we’ve got what it takes. Congratulations to Banyana. Let’s stop criticizing, South Africans, and help each other. One love.

We’re a couple of days away from the start of the new season and my beloved Amakhosi are yet to find a suitable number nine. Listening to Zwane this past week, it doesn’t look like he’s convinced with the trialists at his disposal. Perhaps the Chiefs management were hasty in releasing both Castro and Nurkovic before securing their replacements. Even if they manage to find the player or players they are looking for, it will take them some time to get used to their teammates. It would have been good to throw in the young boys after getting a few wins under the belt so that they wouldn’t feel too much pressure. Now we have to pray that the likes of Billiat and Dolly stay injury-free to lead the attack, otherwise we’ll be in trouble. Good luck to the boys against Royal AM. Malesela “Dance” Boya, Kanana, Hammanskraal

My team Chiefs never ceases to amaze. They released Castro and Nurkovic but are yet to sign replacements. As things stand, we don’t have a natural number nine. Was coach Zwane consulted before releasing those players? I still don’t see us challenging for honours this season. Instead, I tip Cape Town City to be the team to beat this season.
