Chiefs to table two-year deal for Edmilson?

-

The Siya crew have been led to believe that Kaizer Chiefs are lining up a two-year deal for Mozambique international defender, Edmilson Dove.

Edmilson, who is the club’s fifth trialist so far, has spent the last week being assessed by the club’s head coach Arthur Zwane and his technical team in hope of securing a contract with the Glamour Boys.

Soccer Laduma understands that the dreadlocked utility player has, in fact, managed to impress during his time with the club and could fill the void on the left-hand side of Chiefs’ central defence.

The Soweto giants have been open about their lack of options on the left side of central defence, with Austin Dube their only option at present, with Sifiso Hlanti still working his way back from injury.

Zitha Kwinika filled that role in their opening match of the season against Royal AM.

Now, the latest news is that the Naturena-based outfit are lining up a two-year deal for the 28-year-old, who looks set to join on a free transfer.

The defender recently plied his trade with UD Songo in his native country, having joined them after parting ways with

Cape Town City earlier this year.

As reported by the crew, Chiefs were keen on Edmilson in the 2019/20 season. However, the defender was a vital part of the Citizens’ plans at the time, although a serious knee injury meant that City parted ways with the player in January.

Edmilson has since made a full recovery and had an impressive showing in the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup, where he captained Mozambique, and now looks set to become the eighth player brought in by Chiefs during the current transfer window.
