Sundowns offer Makgalwa to TS Galaxy?

-

The Siya crew has been reliably informed that Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to loan out Keletso Makgalwa yet again.

Siya sources have indicated that the 25-year-old has been offered to TS Galaxy and talk is that the Brazilians aren’t willing to cut ties permanently for now.

It’s understood a decision has been made by the technical team that there is no room for the striker at Chloorkop this season as he returns from a brief spell with Swallows FC, where he spent the 2021/22 campaign.

Last year, Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena told Soccer Laduma that Makgalwa’s career had stalled, but the club hoped his move to the Dube Birds would help him catch up with his fellow youth graduates like Sphelele Mkhulise and Percy Tau, the latter having blossomed and now playing abroad.

Makgalwa was promoted to the Downs senior side by then coach Pitso Mosimane in 2017, but sent to Maritzburg United to get regular game-time a year later… which didn’t work out and led to the Team of Choice prematurely terminating the loan agreement in the middle of the season, with questions around the player’s commitment.

Although Mosimane proved Maritzburg wrong by using Makgalwa in his squad to good effect, his departure meant the forward no longer had the backing of the new technical team of Mokwena, Manqoba Mngqithi and senior coach Steve Komphela.

Information gathered by the Siya crew is that Makgalwa returned to his parent club, but is not training with the senior team.

While Swallows could be keen extend his loan spell, it’s understood they would only do so if his salary package, partly paid by Downs, is significantly reduced.
