Chiefs approached for Dube

-

Premier Soccer League rookies Richards Bay FC have approached Kaizer Chiefs for the services of defender Austin Dube, the Siya crew has established.

The Natal Rich Boys have made some serious reinforcements coming into top-flight football, and could still add one or two more new faces before the extended transfer window slams shut on September 22.

Soccer Laduma has been led to believe that one of the targets is Dube, who was, in fact, sold to Chiefs by Richards Bay a year ago for a fee in the region of R3 million after he’d impressed the Glamour

Boys playing in the National First Division.

His Amakhosi start was slower than the player would have expected, with then coach Stuart Baxter arguing that he couldn’t throw Dube into the deep end before he understood the Chiefs “way of playing”.

At the end of his debut season, he’d made 16 appearances – but the biggest concern is that Dube only played less than an hour of football in the last eight matches of the previous campaign, which wrapped up with Arthur Zwane as interim coach.

Siya sources have informed the crew that Richards Bay have asked the Soweto giants whether Dube would be open to a loan move back to KwaZulu-Natal, and a decision might only be made in the final days of the transfer window.

It remains to be seen if Dube is able to get any game-time in the coming weeks and assess whether he is in Zwane’s plans – being left out of the squad in their DStv Premiership opener last weekend might suggest that he is not.
