Chiefs conceded the second goal from their own throw-in. From the time Frosler takes a throw on the left, to the point at which Ngezana pulls back Shalulile to concede a penalty is 11 seconds. Without any physical attackers to aim for on throws down the line, Zwane’s men allow Mokoena to win the header from Frosler’s restart. Maart picks up the second ball but is brilliantl­y “backwards pressed” by Shalulile, who forces him into an error. When Maema gets a pass in a tight space, he brilliantl­y protects the ball and turns Siyethemba Sithebe before finding Shalulile’s run. Ngezana is caught wrong-side because he is pulled out by Sirino’s positionin­g, whilst Blom is far too wide for a throw on the opposite flank.

Ngezana makes a bad decision to pull Shalulile when Kwinika was in a position to cover. That is shown by referee Victor Gomes actually thinking it was the former Stellenbos­ch FC defender who committed the foul and he therefore books Kwinika instead of Ngezana.

There are plenty of mistakes in this goal, not least Maart losing the ball or Ngezana’s rash foul. However, it also stems from the poor movement from Chiefs players to free themselves from Frosler’s throw-in and Blom not having the positional awareness to be tucked in and closer to Sirino, therefore pulling Ngezana out.
