FOURTH GOAL Dolly and Njabulo Ngcobo lose mismatches

-

For the fourth goal, in the 76th minute, Chiefs are visibly fatiguing. Sabelo Radebe is on the sideline about to replace Dolly, whilst Maart is shown on the television feed breathing very deeply. We can

also see Solomons is stretching and holding his hamstring as he begins to tighten up. This leads partly to the goal.

Fully fit and fresh Lakay receives the ball from Onyango on a Sundowns build-up and easily runs forward, with Dolly slow to get out to him. Solomons is basically a passenger in the move due to his hamstring and is not covering his channel at all. This allows Lakay to play a simple pass down the line for Abubeker Nassir to chase. He leaves Njabulo Ngcobo looking very wooden and slow in that channel and can isolate the substitute centre-back in the box. A beautiful drag turn and left-footed shot into the far corner makes it 4-0.

It’s concerning how exposed Ngcobo looked and how he struggled to deal with that situation. He hasn’t played much football as a defender since joining Chiefs (with Baxter preferring him in midfield) and he has played just once since

his errors against Golden Arrows
