SINGH TURNS DOWN LOCAL OFFERS?
The Siya crew has been informed that Bafana Bafana attacker Luther Singh turned down a number of local offers before opting to remain in Europe.
Singh is closing in on a season-long loan move to Portuguese topflight outfit, GD Chavez, the side where he spent the 2018/19 season on loan.
The 25-year-old fell out of favour at FC Copenhagen, who snapped him up for a reported transfer fee of ±R24 million from SC Braga in August last year.
As a result, Singh was a peripheral figure for coach Jess Thorup’s side and made just 10 appearances in all competitions, with no goals to his name. Looking for a way out at the Danish giants, the Siya crew has been informed that the player had a number of suitors in Europe from Portugal and Belgium. However, Siya sources informed the crew that two unnamed local clubs had also been offered the former Junior international’s services.
Singh, according to sources, is understood to have turned down the opportunity to return to his country of birth, as his priority is to remain in Europe at this stage of his career.
The Soweto-born star is one of the players who made the transition from the Stars of Africa Academy, straight into Europe, having spent the last seven years of his ca-reer abroad.
He enjoyed stints with GAIS Goteborg in Sweden and had numerous loan stints in Portugal with Chavez, Moreirense and Paços De Ferreira respectively, before making his way to Denmark last season.
