Quick One-Two’s
We missed going to stadiums and our clubs also missed us, mentioning it every time they got interviewed. My plea to fellow supporters is to please stop booing players. I’m not saying wemustbehappywhentheycostour teams, but they need to be uplifted when they make mistakes. That will encourage them. Booing doesn’t make things right. Instead, it makes things worse, especially being booed by your own supporters. Plus, that gives the opponents an edge over your team. No player goes into the field to make the team lose. When these players are down, they really need our support. Albert Khutshwa, Lupapasi village, eCala
Different season, same lacklustre performance from my team, dominating without scoring. I think Pirates won’t even compete for the top four. I’m not impressed. A top striker was released and now AmaZulu FC are benefiting, while we suffer because of politics behind the scenes. I mean, if we fail to beat SuperSport, currently struggling and in a rebuilding process, then one can be forgiven for predicting the worst season ahead. I don’t blame the poor coach. The guy was appointed with the full view or understanding that he lacked African exposure or experience, but because the powers that be at Pirates are arrogant and self-serving, the unknown man was appointed. Slowly but surely, the glamour and status of Pirates is fading and, if not arrested soon, our side will resemble that of Swallows. Thapelo Masiapata, Ramaroka village, Bolobedu
The wheels are coming off at Royal AM and I won’t be surprised if one of the co-coaches is shown the exit door. The team has invested a lot of money to challenge for honours this season, but going three games without a win is a bad sign and from a distance, you can see there’s a communication breakdown between Zondo and Malesela. After losing Letsoalo, we thought it’s time for Macuphu to carry the team on his shoulders, but for that to happen, he needs to play regularly. His omission from the starting line-up always leaves many questions unanswered. I urge MaMkhize to think of luring Akpeyi and decide on the head coach between the two gentlemen. Tente “The Brains” Mokoka, Sepharane
I really don’t know what’s going on at my favourite club SuperSport. I’m not sure what’s lacking. Goals are hard to come by. At the pace we are going, I foresee danger and I wouldn’t be surprised if we find ourselves fighting relegation come end of the season. We need to pull up our socks. Maybe the coach should
start with Gabuza and Grobler up front. Anyway, what a game between Chiefs and Richards Bay. Zwane is playing beautiful carpet football. Amakhosi will win one of the trophies this season. They are playing well. Malema Jojo wa Letsatsantsa, Maphalle village, Bolobedu
Congrats to son of the soil Pitso for getting the prestigious CAF Pro License. That means he’s allowed to coach anywhere in the world. This is a massive achievement and individual brilliance on his part. This will encourage other coaches to upgrade their qualifications. Pitso is one of the greatest coaches in our land and I don’t have any doubt that he can coach anywhere in the world because he’s capable and has rich experience. Hail Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane! Madimetja Vic Mashamaite, Renstown
It seems we are in for a tough season in both the DStv Premiership and Premier League. Liverpool have collected just a mere two points, with Man United on three. Chelsea lost 3-0 away against Leeds. Domestically, AmaZulu FC are at the summit of the log standings, with TS Galaxy occupying second spot, and both are yet to lose. That is unthinkable on the supporters’ side but good for the growth of our league. The million-dollar question is, will both be consistent throughout the season? Hunt’s return to SuperSport has yet to yield the desired results as he’s still winless. Amakhosi supporters, let’s forgive Ngezana for his costly mistakes and Zwane did well by using him as a substitute on the weekend to restore his confidence. Such things happen in football, difficult as they may be to accept. Bernard Tshukudu, Ga-Maria
