Stellenbosch FC v Kaizer Chiefs

28 August, Danie Craven Stadium, 15h00

-

Their fourth-place finish of last season has proved to be advantageous for Stellenbosch FC, as it ensured they play their MTN8 quarterfinal at home against whoever would have finished fifth. And that team is none other than the mighty Kaizer Chiefs. Although the latter have a massive fanbase that gets behind them wherever they play in the country, opposition teams have never found it easy playing at Danie Craven Stadium. Amakhosi themselves know this too well, having lost there in the league in November last year. The Soweto giants, however, retain the honour of having won this competition more times than any other side, a record 15 times from 21 final appearances. A few of the young stars at Steve Barker’s disposal will want to prove their mettle in such a big fixture, while Junior Mendieta has to potential to cause real damage in the Chiefs box if left unchecked.
