Manyama receives devastating blow

-

Lebohang Manyama’s desperate attempts to revive his flagging career received a devastating blow this week when his new suitors delayed in offering him a contract after he was released by Kaizer Chiefs a few months ago.

Manyama was invited by Cape Town City chairman John Comitis for an assessment and although the club is keen to sign the 2016 PSL Footballer of the Season, it seems like the recovery from his injury is taking longer than expected and forcing City to delay their decision.

“Towards the tail end of 2021, Manyama completed the season at Chiefs getting what in medical terms is called a Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for his knee, a procedural treatment in which a patient is injected with his own blood cells to accelerate the healing process in a specific area.

“But once the season ended, the pain on his knee was unbearable and he underwent surgery. They know what he can offer the team and invited him down to the Mother City because they felt he can undergo rehabilitation under the watchful eyes of their medical department,” explained a Siya source.

“But it seems like they are now having second thoughts as he is struggling to shake off the effects of the injury and after starting the domestic season on a wobble, City are facing AS Otoho from Congo in the first round of the CAF Champions League next week,” added the source.

Meanwhile, City are reportedly open to offers for loyal servant Thabo Nodada and, according to Soccer Laduma sources, will seriously consider an offer that meets their evaluation of the player.
