New two-year deal for Zwane at Downs!

-

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Themba Zwane is on a new contract at the defending league champions, the Siya crew has been informed.

Following the end of the 2021/22 season, Zwane’s camp has been in discussions with the Brazilians over a new deal following yet another impressive season for him, having helped the team win a domestic treble with their MTN8, DStv Premier-ship and Nedbank Cup triumphs.

In total, the playmaker made a whopping 42 appearances in all competitions last season and scored 10 goals, while he provided assists for nine other goals.

Having entered his 12th season as a professional footballer, Zwane has already earned a legendary status at Downs. During his time at Chloorkop, he has won six league titles, two Telkom Knockout trophies, one Nedbank Cup and one MTN8 tro-phy, as well as the CAF Champions League and Super Cup, and is the longest-serving member of the current squad.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that he has been rewarded with a new contract!

Mshishi, as the 33-year-old attacker is known in football circles, had a new two-year contract agreed to before the start of the new season, with the respective parties having ironed out the finer details over the past few weeks.

According to sources, the Tembisa-born player has signed a new two-year deal plus an option to extend for one more year.

“The club has agreed to a new two-year contract with Mshishi,” said a source. “He is a Sundowns player through and through and is happy at the club and everyone is happy,” confirmed the source.
