AmaZulu and Royal AM keen on Erasmus?

-

A high-ranking official at Mamelodi Sundowns has informed the Siya crew that there is interest from both AmaZulu FC and Royal AM in striker Kermit Erasmus, who is on his way out of Chloorkop.

The defending DStv Premiership champions have not yet made a formal statement on the future of the 32-year-old forward, even though his squad number has since been allocated to newly signed Chilean international Marcelo Allende.

Erasmus was a big-money signing from Cape Town City for a reported transfer fee of around R10 million two years ago and it was thought he would then finally live up to expectation at another big club.

The striker spent three years at Orlando Pirates prior to moving to France and then later coming back to the Premier Soccer League to play for City in 2019.

With Peter Shalulile in the form of his life and Pavol Safranko, who left Chloorkop, preferred over him last season, Erasmus became a fringe player at the club.

Siya sources have informed the crew that he has since told the technical team that he wants regular game-time, which naturally means he would have to leave the club to get his wish following the arrival of Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nasir.

Indications are that AmaZulu could be a possible destination if the talks of their in-terest go beyond just the interest that’s thought to currently exist – and Royal AM have been mentioned as another likely suitor too.

But it remains to be seen w Downs will terminate Erasmus’ contract or look to recuperate the money spent to bring him to Chloorkop in the first place.
