Nange targeted before deadline day?

-

Word reaching the Siya crew is that SuperSport United are contemplating on making a late bid for the services of Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange, before the transfer window slams shut next week!

It’s emerged that coach Gavin Hunt is desperate to add an experienced midfielder to his squad ahead of the September 22 deadline.

Soccer Laduma sources have reliably indicated that Nange is one of the prime targets for SuperSport, having worked with Hunt at Bidvest Wits prior to the team being sold and the player joining Stellenbosch FC and then later Amakhosi.

Hunt returned to the Tshwane outfit at the start of the 2022/23 season and has inherited a youthful team that will need some senior heads along the way in what the coach has publicly said will be challenging.

A high-ranking source informed Soccer Laduma that the search for a player that can come in and assume that role alongside Thulani Hlatshwayo and Bradley Gro-bler is on, although the club does realise there’s not a lot of time to get the deal over the line.

Nange isn’t thought to be for sale or available to be loaned out by Chiefs, but his lack of gametime could tempt him to agree to leave Naturena and join a team where he might possibly be one of the first names on the team sheet.

To date, the 30-year-old has only made a single appearance in the starting line-up from a total of eight matches in all competitions and that more than suggests that he still has to work his way back to being a regular.

Nange is also in the final year of his contract with the Glamour Boys and can sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice in January or leave for free six months later.

Will SuperSport wait?
