SSU OFFER WEBBER FOR MTHETHWA?

-

With SuperSport expressing a keen interest in the services of Sibongiseni Mthethwa, the Siya crew has been informed that Matsatsantsa have offered one of their own midfielders to sweeten the deal for Stellenbosch FC.

As first reported by Soccer Laduma, SuperSport United and Royal AM are under-stood to be keen on the 27-year-old defensive midfielder, with Mamelodi Sun-downs subsequently joining the race for his signature.

Now, the latest news reaching the crew is that Matsatsantsa have stepped up their interest in the Ox, as Mthethwa is known in football circles.

According to well-placed Siya sources, the Tshwane-based outfit have offered 24-year-old midfielder Jamie Webber as part of the deal to land Mthethwa.

Webber was a mainstay for SuperSport under coach Kaitano Tembo last season, making 31 appearances. However, he has fallen down the pecking order under coach Gavin Hunt this campaign, which has seen him make just two appearances so far this season.

A source further explained that Stellies are keen on holding onto Mthethwa, who, according to information made available to the crew, is contracted to Stellenbosch until 2024, having signed a two-and-a-half-year deal when he joined from Black Leopards in January this year.

It remains to be seen whether Stellies can hold their resolve as more clubs contin-ue to express an interest in the hard-tackling midfielder, who has made eight ap-pearances in all competitions for coach Steve Barker’s side.
