The chopping and changing of coaches is not good for football. Certain coaches are still trying to lay down their philosophy in their respective teams, then they’re already facing the exit door. Football is a results-driven business, but coaches have limited resources and playing personnel, yet club bosses give them an ultimatum to be in the top four. When are SA teams going to give coaches a chance to run their technical benches and make their own decisions or team selections? Club owners sign and release players without the coach’s consent. Successful teams plan and the technical team goes for specific players who will suit their style of play and philosophy. Some coaches leave the team due to interferen­ce, with some club bosses even sitting on the bench! The reality is that no selfrespec­ting and hands-on coach will want to be judged on his performanc­e based on someone else’s decisions. Maybe it is time to trust and believe in the coaches more by empowering them to make their own decisions. Give them space and time and let’s see the Beautiful Game improve. Gavin Ryan, Emalahleni
