Dolly’s lengthy poor form
The case of Dolly is a slightly different one. He has undoubtedly been a long way below his best this season with just one goal and no
assists, but Zwane inherited a player with just one goal and one assist in eight matches. Dolly excelled in a very hot streak of form under Baxter – six goals and three assists in an eightmatch run – but the other 20 matches of the 2021/22 season saw just two goals and two assists.
That’s not to say that Zwane doesn’t take a large slice of blame for Dolly’s struggles since April. After the modern
technocrat took charge, Dolly started five PSL matches with just one goal: a match-winning strike from distance against Marumo Gallants that actually deflected in off teammate Billiat. This term, he scored a smart lofted finish
into an open net against Maritzburg United for his only goal contribution of the season so far.
