Chiefs to revisit Mmodi interest?

-

News reaching the Siya crew is that Kaizer Chiefs are looking to revisit their interest in Golden Arrows attacker Pule Mmodi, possibly in January or at the end of the season.

Mmodi has been a transfer target for the Glamour Boys since the end of last season and while attempts were made by the club to lure the 29-year-old to Naturena during the recent transfer window, the two clubs failed to reach an agreement on a transfer fee.

The player wanted the move to Chiefs with the aim of taking his career to the next level and was visibly disappointed when it didn’t happen as his performances were affected in the opening stages of the season.

However, in recent matches, the winger has rediscovered his form and has been outstanding under Vusumuzi Vilakazi and Mabhudi Khenyeza in his revival for Abafana Bes’thende.

Mmodi has scored in all of rows’ last four matches and has contributed immensely to the team moving up to fifth position on the log standings.

Following his inspiring performances, the Theunissen-born player was called up to Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos’ 23-man squad for the international friendlies against Sierra Leone and Botswana.

In addition, Mmodi has moved up to second on the goal scorers’ g, strikes, and is only behind Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns, who is on six goals.

According to sources, Mmodi is being closely monitored by Chiefs following his impressive performances, with the club expected to revisit their interest in January or at the end of the season.

Mmodi has entered into the last year of his contract with Arrows, which means that the Soweto giants, or any other club that is interested in his services, could

sign him on a pre-contract in January when he enters into the last six months of his existing deal.

As things stand, there are no signs of the player committing to a new deal with the Lamontville side, who could be at risk of losing one of their top players on a free.
