Ndlondlo was also offered to Downs…

Marumo Gallants talisman Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo made a surprise move to DStv

Premiership rivals Orlando Pirates last week, but the Siya crew has been led to believe the player was also offered to Mamelodi Sundowns!

It was expected that the 27-year-old would leave the Limpopo outfit at some point, having been heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC during the just-ended transfer window, but it was the Buccaneers who got a deal over the line.

According to reliable sources, the nimble-footed midfield dynamo was proposed to the reigning champions in the lead-up to the registration period closing.

“People are going to be surprised to hear this, but Ndlondlo was offered to Sundowns before he signed for Pirates. The reality is that there are too many players in that position at Chloorkop, so the idea was rejected,” said an official who provided the information to Soccer Laduma.

And it’s true, the Brazilians have overloaded that position this season following the arrival of Sipho Mbule, Marcelo

Allende and even Bongani Zungu.

Sundowns also have Neo Maema, Erwin Saavedra, Gaston Sirino, Haashim Domingo, Sphelele Mkhulise, Lesedi Kapinga and Lebo Maboe – to name a few – all competing for a spot in that attacking midfield slot.

The Siya crew understands then that this is the reason the offer was politely turned down, which perhaps opened the door for the Buccaneers to pounce on the player to add him to their squad for what remains of the 2022/23 season.
