Pirates to rekindle Allan interest?
Orlando Pirates are believed to be keeping a close eye on Keegan Allan with a view of potentially making a move for his services, possibly at the end of the season.
Allan has impressed when called upon by Swallows FC, despite the team’s poor start, finding the back of the net too. The defender has scored two goals, to date, from four league appearances.
The 21-year-old joined the Dube Birds on a two-year deal in July, having starred for the University of Pretoria last season, and almost helped the team back to the topflight.
Before signing with Swallows, Allan had been linked with the Buccaneers, though the club opted for experience by bringing in Nkosinathi Sibisi and Tapelo Xoki, from Golden Arrows and AmaZulu FC respectively, as they bolstered their respective squads.
However, according to wellplaced sources, the Buccaneers door hasn’t closed for Allan, with the former Mamelodi Sundowns youth player’s progression being noticed.
Bucs are believed to be monitoring the centre-back, with a view of revisiting the interest at the end of the season.
“There’s definitely interest in the boy, and it would be no surprise if he ends up going overseas. Pirates was interested in the boy when he was still playing in the NFD and that has not gone away.
“The boy is enjoying his game and is getting more confident. There will always be interest in his services from clubs because he is a top player,” said a source.
The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the best young defenders in Mzansi and it now remains to be seen if the Soweto giants do make a move at the end of the campaign.
