CHIPPA TO RENEW INTEREST IN JOOSTE?

-

The Siya crew has been informed that Chippa United could revisit their interest in former Orlando Pirates player Wayde Jooste.

The Chilli Boys are believed to have shown an interest in signing the player before the start of the season but were unable to get him to Gqeberha to secure his services. After his contract was not renewed by the Buccaneers at the end of June, Jooste trained with SuperSport

United in the hope of securing a deal with the Tshwane outfit.

But, after weeks of training with Matsatsantsa, Jooste was unable to earn himself a contract, as the club’s CEO, Stan Matthews, confirmed to Soccer Laduma that they would not be signing the player. Instead, SuperSport signed his former Pirates teammates Thulani Hlatshwayo and Siphesihle Ndlovu.

“We are not taking him now. We have right-sided players like (Iqraam) Rayners, (Guily) Manziba and (Ghampani) Lungu, so it’s not a priority position for us,” Matthews said.

Now, it appears Chippa is one of the clubs looking at the possibility of bringing in the former Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows player, as he is available to be signed outside the transfer window.

The player is quite settled in Gauteng, which is why he was hoping to secure a move to SuperSport. But if no club from the province shows an interest in his services, the 31-yearold would probably consider making a move elsewhere.
