Peprah to reassess options in January?

-

After having a number of approaches both locally and abroad rejected, Orlando Pirates striker Kwame Peprah will assess his options in January, the Siya crew has learnt.

As reported by Soccer Laduma in June, Pirates rejected an offer for Peprah from an unnamed Greek Super League club as it did not meet their evaluation of the player at the time, as confirmed by the player’s camp.

Subsequently, media reports suggested there was local interest mounting for the Ghanaian striker, with Cape Town City understood to be amongst the teams keen on the player, although that interest too was reportedly thwarted by the Soweto giants, which saw him remain at the club as the transfer window slammed shut.

Peprah found himself in the stands in last Saturday’s MTN8 first leg semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns, with the player seemingly not part of coach Riveiro’s plans this campaign.

Added to the burly marksman’s woes is the addition of Kermit Erasmus, who was signed on transfer deadline day from Mamelodi Sundowns, while the club are assessing veteran forward Ndumiso Mabena.

With his game drought an area of concern, Siya sources have informed the crew that Peprah and his camp will reassess their options in the January transfer window, if his situation at the club persists.

“There has been offers from abroad still even when it showed that the management

might not play the player regularly, but Pirates just never seemed anywhere close to letting him go, although he might look to secure a move away,” a source told the Siya crew.

Peprah does have a contract in place with Pirates until June 2024, meaning that interested clubs would have to negotiate a transfer fee with the Buccaneers, while a loan move is another viable option for the club’s top goal scorer for the 2021/22 season.
