What the Siya crew has been told…

-

The latest news reaching the Siya crew’s desk is that Kaizer Chiefs made a move for Katlego Otladisa during the transfer window that slammed shut last month and that Marumo Gallants are now assessing their options.

The 26-year-old got his career back on track with Gallants, this after being on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns in 2017 and not making a firstteam appearance. At the time, the Sundowns development product was subsequently sent on loan to Cape Umoya United and Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs), and never really seemed to be in Downs’ technical team plans despite having put pen to paper on a long-term deal. This led to his Brazilians contract being terminated by mutual consent, thus opening the door to a revival of his promising career at Gallants.

Following his revival, Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were both linked to the player last season, with indications that the Limpopo-based club was aware of the interest.

Insiders have now revealed that Amakhosi made a formal approach to Gallants for the player’s services at the start of the 2022/23 campaign, but according to the information made available to Soccer Laduma, the interest was rebuffed!

Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo has since been sold to Bucs, and with the expiry of Otladisa’s contract in sight, the crew has since been informed that Gallants are now looking at their options. It is believed that they are willing to sell him at the ‘right’ price, with the aim of selling him in January or at the end of the current season. And while there is interest in the player from the two Soweto giants, an independent source has confirmed to this publication that the player is open to exploring a new challenge.

According to the information made available to the crew, Bucs and Chiefs are still very keen on the 26-year-old star and are monitoring his situation closely. However, one source has explained that Bucs are leading the race with a high probability of Otladisa following his former teammates, Miguel Timm and Ndlondlo, to Orlando.

But as things stand, Gallants are in control of the situation, with just over 18 months left to run on his existing contract, which is set to expire in June 2024. That, however, will change next season once he enters into the final year of the deal.
