Chiefs to raid market in January
Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles and short comings in recent weeks have been identified by coach Arthur Zwane, who admitted that despite raiding the transfer market aggressively during the off-season, they are still not yet a complete unit.
Soccer Laduma has picked on information that Amakhosi plan to invade the transfer market again during the next open window and have identified two additional players they intend bringing to Naturena. This much was hinted by coach Zwane, a winger during his playing days, following their narrow 2-1 victory over rivals Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville, saying that he needed to balance the team by bringing in another winger to fortify the squad.
“We need another player that can take responsibilities off the shoulders of winger Kgaogelo Sekgota,” said the Amakhosi mentor, giving the clearest hint ever that they intend raiding the transfer mark etw hen it opens in January.
While the Siya crew has been informed that the Soweto giants are interested in Stellenbosch anchor Sibongiseni Mthethwa, as reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, indications coming from sources are that Mendieta is another one the Naturena-based outfit feel ticks all the boxes required by the club. Furthermore, this publication has also been informed that Chiefs’ talent scouts have been spending sleepless nights following an Ethiopian striker very closely. While Ethiopian and St George’s striker Emmanuel Gebre Michael has also fallen onto their radar, Mendieta is looked at as the one player
that could light up the fire under the belly of their marquee signing Ashley Du Preez, who has not yet reproduced the form that attracted the Glamour Boys’ attention.
