NO PROGRESS AS MAHLAMBI WAITS

-

The search for a new club does not seem to get any easier for Phakamani Mahlambi, with little to no options coming his way, the Siya crew understands.

Mahlambi left Mamelodi Sundowns after his contract with the defending league champions was not renewed when it expired at the end of June and the challenge has been trying to find him a new home where he will try to get his career back on track.

At this stage, it’s understood that there is nothing concrete on the table for the former Bidvest Wits and Al Ahly player, with concerns growing of when he will get back to competitive football.

Mahlambi has had a difficult last few seasons and the loan moves to AmaZulu FC and Chippa United did nothing to get his career back on track, though touted as a big star for the future when he broke out at Wits a couple of years ago. When Downs sent him out on loan, there was hope that the 25-yearold would rediscover his form, but things did not work out as planned. While there were signs of progress early on during his loan stint at the Chilli Boys, an injury set him back and he was unable to get the gametime he desired at the time.

It’s often been alleged that Mahlambi’s off-field behaviour is costing him and clubs are believed to be concerned about this, which is one of the reasons he has not been receiving concrete offers.
