CHIEFS SHOOT STELLIES OUT

-

Congrats to Chiefs. A cardiac arrest almost visited me after we fluffed so many scoring opportunities, before Stellies took the lead, because we’ve never been good in chasing games. Sekgota is a star in the making but needs to cut down on dribbling and put in those crosses. He’s a bit selfish too and that’ll cost us. Hats off to our Caleb for converting those three penalties with so much confidence and composure as it is not easy scoring so many penalties in one game and I’d love to ask the Editor if it’s ever been done in the PSL era that a striker scored three penalties in one game? The injury to Khune is a massive setback and throws a spanner in the works as far as our goalkeeping department is concerned, but kudos to Petersen for coming on and playing so well. I just hope we’ll not get carried away. We’re still making elementary mistake at the back. Let’s go all out against Chippa and “show dem”. Marvin Matseke-Mabula,

Burgersfort, Leboeng Rutseng

Nine out of a possible nine points is a good way for Zwane to ease off the pressure. Chiefs are getting better and the understanding among the boys is improving. Getting one over a team that collected six points off us last season was exactly what the doctor ordered. We’re far from being a finished product, but we’re on the right track. For Stellenbosch to commit three

penalties just shows they had no answers to Chiefs’ attacks. It’s still worrying that we don’t bury our chances in open play, but the good thing is we’re creating chances. Well-deserved win. Malesela “Dance” Boya, Kanana, Hammanskraal

Well done to Chiefs. Good performance all-round, although we keep donating goals to opposition teams. I’m a bit perturbed by the lack of quality finishing in front of goal, main culprits being Sekgota and Du Preez. Our coach keeps reassuring us that he’s working on the boys, let’s hope they finally get it right. We need silverware this season. Bimenyimana and Dove were definitely very good acquisitions. I wish Khune a speedy recovery. Well done coach, Zwane – you’re definitely on the right track. The next three games against Chippa United, AmaZulu and Pirates are winnable. Good luck, boys. Well done to Chiefs, though I wasn’t impressed with their firsthalf performance. They played

with fear and didn’t convert their clear-cut chances. Once again, it was a defensive error, this time from Blom, that led to the opener. In the second half, we came back a better team and managed to create some chances. Much gratitude to Bimenyimana for scoring a hat-trick of penalties. Maybe he’s what Chiefs need when it comes to the striking department. If it wasn’t for Caleb’s heroics, Chiefs would’ve lost. Amakhosi must not relax now and should continue collecting points.
