The only thing Pirates need to do…

Andries Sebola – Former Pirates striker

-

“All I can say is that it’s disappointing. This disappointment I have is with the technical team because the system of using one striker will never help Pirates. If you can put two strikers, I think it would be different. They have Erasmus now and they have an option of playing with two strikers. They can’t play Erasmus on his own because he is short, and you often rely on the crosses for the striker to finish those chances, but he is too short, so having two strikers would work. Go with someone who can hold the ball for him so that he can finish all the chances that are created. I think having one striker will always be difficult and goals will be scarce. When you have players like (Ndabayithethwa) Ndlondlo there, you will always have supply. They just need to have enough numbers to finish off those chances and one striker is not enough to do that. That’s the downfall that Pirates have. If you remember, Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi were against Mhango. He delivered for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations, but when he got back, they said there were issues with discipline and so on. That is their downfall. Now we wish Mhango was there playing as a second striker, where you partner him with Lepasa or Erasmus. That’s how Pirates would score more goals. That’s where I feel the technical team is making wrong decisions when they don’t like certain players. Lepasa wastes chances. He needs to improve himself and deliver. He has never scored more than five goals for Pirates since he arrived. The only thing for him now is to wake up and deliver. The only thing Pirates need to do is go back to using two strikers. Chiefs are playing with (Ashley) Du Preez and Caleb (Bimenyimana). You can see that they are creating chances and that’s why they were able to get so many penalties against Stellenbosch, because they were putting them under pressure. With Du Preez next to Caleb, they are able to do something.”
