Doc's friend zone

This week, I will be telling you about another brother of mine, Bashin “Ayashis’ amateki” Mahlangu. What a humble legend and a gentleman! You know, people don’t know that during our playing days, we used to share accommodation while playing for two of the biggest rivals in Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Since then to this day, I’ve never seen that man touch alcohol or a cigarette! You know, it is so unfortunate that we grow old and have family commitments that we don’t get to spend as much time together as we used to do back in the day. This is the biggest challenge we all have as legends, but the good thing is that we get to play friendly matches from time to time. When we shared a flat, we didn’t even have anyone cleaning our apartment for us, but Bashin always made sure the place was neat and tidy. Each and every thing we did together was always around football. We’d go play in different provinces for our respective teams and we were the first people we wanted to meet and share the experience with upon our return. A friendship that grew into brotherhood and I’m always grateful to the Almighty for bringing such people into my life. Not even once did I see Bashin in a bad mood or arguing with anyone. He’s always smiling and sharing jokes.
