Khumalo keen on Yeye, but up to Amakhosi hierarchy
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder maestro Reneilwe Letsholonyane confirmed big news last week as he maps a way forward post his playing days.
He now holds a CAF B Licence, paving the way for a journey as a coach, and there are still question marks on where he will cut his teeth.
Recently, the Siya crew has reported that Kaizer Chiefs had allowed their ex-player to visit their training base in Naturena and observe how they do things, especially with the Reserve League team led by coach Vela Khumalo.
In fact, Soccer Laduma has established that Khumalo is believed to be eager on ‘Yeye’ being roped in as part of his technical team in the DStv Diski Challenge, but that is not his decision to rubberstamp.
For Letsholonyane to return to Naturena, it must come from the top and as part of the big drive to recruit more former players to have a role in the youth structures just as they have done in the past.
The confirmation of a CAF B Licence will boost Letsholonyane’s chances, not just with Chiefs but with any of the local clubs keen to bring his expertise on board.
But Khumalo, it is thought, would love nothing but to see the member of the Bafana Bafana 2010 World Cup squad beef up his backroom staff.
Letsholonyane is already familiar with the culture as well as being a huge inspiration to the young generation, but he is not likely to wait forever for the call…
