Word from the supporters…

I see an exciting final

-

Siya Maloka – Pirates supporter

“This is one game where I feel coaches will not have a big impact.

The coaching will be 20 percent, in terms of trying to decide the outcome of this game, and then 80 percent will be about how much the players want it on the day and how they apply themselves. Will they take their chances? Will they go on to the pitch with the belief that they will win the MTN8 for themselves and the club? So, yes, I feel that it will be a very difficult game for both teams. AmaZulu have a solid defence and Pirates also have a solid defence. Abbubaker Mobara has been key to the AmaZulu defence, and you look at a guy like Sibisi who has been solid at the back. Both teams

have creativity in the midfield. There’s George Maluleka on the side of AmaZulu and Miguel Timm, who will be back from suspension for Pirates – these are players who can influence the midfield. Up front, AmaZulu have (Gabadinho) Mhango and (Lehlohonolo) Majoro, players who know how to play this type of game. They’ve been at Pirates and they are big players. Pirates have Erasmus, who is a top striker. This is a game that can go as far as penalties, but I see an exciting final.”

This is really big Bheki Nyathi – AmaZulu supporter

“Firstly, it means a lot to us that AmaZulu have reached the final. Not just AmaZulu fans, but KZN at large. You rarely find a team from KZN playing in the final. Most of the time, it’s your Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns, so it’s history on its own that AmaZulu have got to the final. The last time we reached a cup final was back in 2010 against Wits in the Nedbank Cup and we lost. It’s been a while and a lot has happened with the club since then. We got relegated and, at some point, we had financial issues, which is why they had to sell the team. We got new owners, the Zungu brothers, and they are very ambitious people, so this does not come as a shock. They were clear that they want to take this club to new heights, to make sure that KZN has that one team that will represent the province and, mostly, the Zulu Nation. This is really big and I am looking forward to the final. It does not matter the outcome, but reaching the final is a major boost for us, especially when you take into account that our current form is not good. But in a cup final, you don’t need form. You need the hunger, so I think we stand a good chance against Pirates. Pirates also need this, but the one thing that gives me hope is that they are just unlucky when it

comes to cup finals. We have to make sure our game plan is on point.”
