AmaZulu to make a move for Ngcobo?

-

Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo has attracted interest from AmaZulu FC, the Siya crew has learnt.

Ngcobo has been a notable absentee from Chiefs’ matchday squads of late, with the club’s head coach Arthur Zwane appearing to be preferring the combination of Zitha Kwinika and Edmilson Dove in central defence.

To date, this season, Ngcobo has made six appearances in the league and was last in action in September against Marumo Gallants. A clear sign that he has fallen down the pecking order.

As a result, according to wellplaced sources, AmaZulu are monitoring the defender’s situation closely with a view to potentially make a move for him at the end of the season. However, whether Chiefs will be willing to part ways with the 28-year-old remains to be seen as the player has another year left to run on his contract with the Soweto giants.

In joining Amakhosi from Swallows FC last year, Ngcobo signed a three-year contract.

The highly-rated defender started his career with AmaZulu, in their reserve team, and indications are that the KwaZulu-Natal outfit are keen to have the player back in their-set-up.

“AmaZulu are interested in Njabulo Ngcobo from Kaizer Chiefs. He has been identified as a target for the club. The boy previously played for AmaZulu and he came through the club’s development,” said a source.

“Expect the club to make a move for him at the end of the season. But it will all depend on Chiefs, on whether they will be willing to part ways with the player as he is contracted to them,” the source added.
