KAPINGA MOVE EDGING CLOSER?
Mamelodi Sundowns are open to letting some of their players leave in January, the Siya crew has learnt.
One of the players who looks set to head out, possibly on loan, is fringe player Lesedi Kapinga, who
has been unable to get a regular spot in the team at Chloorkop.
With the club signing players in every transfer window, Kapinga has fallen further down the
pecking order and chances of him playing regularly are understood to be slim.
This season, the 27-year-old has made three appearances for Sundowns, all as a substitute, against TS Galaxy, Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United. He has not featured for the defending champions since August and it’s understood that the club is open to letting him go to get an opportunity to get more game-time elsewhere, considering the club has the likes of Marcelo Allende, Surprise Ralani and, more recently, development product Cassius Mailula playing ahead of him.
Kapinga, in fact, has previously been linked with a loan move, as Marumo Gallants showed an interest in having him on board at the time.
The Siya crew understands that the Limpopo-based outfit would be interested in the player if an opportunity to sign him were to be presented, but they will wait to see how the situation plays out.
Sundowns are also looking at loaning out midfielder Luvuyo Phewa and defender Katlego Mohamme in the January transfer window. Phewa, who was on loan to University of Pretoria last season, has been recovering from an injury in recent months.
