-

Orlando Pirates are expected to exercise their option on inform player Monnapule Saleng’s contract, extending his spell with the Houghton-based outfit.

Saleng is arguably the most inform Buccaneer at present and fast becoming one of the crowd favourites. The 24-year-old scored the goal that earned the club their MTN8 trophy on the weekend against AmaZulu FC and so far he has scored five goals from his eight appearances in all competitions.

The exciting winger has not

een named in Hugo Broos’ preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Mozambique and Angola.

Having joined Bucs from Free State Stars last year, the winger put pen to paper on a three-year contract, which included a twoyear option. And indications are that Bucs are already talking about exercising that option.

“Monnapule Saleng signed a three-year contract with Orlando Pirates when he joined from Free State Stars. Pirates has an option to extend the deal. The option is for two years and the club has already indicated that they will be exercising the option,” said a source.

“The boy is happy at the club and his performances are a proof of that. He is committed to the club and is willing to stay beyond his current deal. But there is no pressure as he still has another year on the deal and the club will do it whenever they feel the time

is right,” the source added.
