Molefe in limbo at Chiefs?
The future of young Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bontle Molefe looks uncertain with indications that the Glamour Boys haven’t mapped out a clear path for him.
At 19, Molefe still has a bright future ahead and with veteran Itumeleng Khune seeing out the final stages of his career over the last few years, it appeared as though this would be an ideal time for the academy product to step up.
But things changed with coach Arthur Zwane restoring Khune to the team, pushing Molefe down the pecking order behind
Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma.
According to sources in the know, the junior international goal minder is in the final year of his contract and will be in a position to sign a pre-contract
in January to join a team of his choice the following season.
Soccer Laduma understands that Amakhosi are open to extending his stay beyond June 2023, but the conversation hasn’t gone any further because Molefe’s camp has not been part of the early talks at this stage.
Chiefs, the Siya crew has been informed, do not want to lose Molefe to any of their rivals, but have been made aware that
the player isn’t going to wait for too long to get a clear picture of what the future holds at Naturena.
The teenager is yet to ma k ean official first-team appearance, having been promoted in February of 2019 by then coach Ernst Middendorp, who in fact felt Molefe was the next big thing to come out of the youth structures.
However, as things stand, he could be moving on next year!
