Agent explains Timm’s Pirates switch

-

Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm was on the verge of joining Sekhukhune United when the Buccaneers hijacked the deal, and his agent has, for the first time, lifted the lid on how the move came about.

Basia Michaels of QT Sport has told Soccer Laduma that she helped the player realise his dream of playing for one of the Soweto giants following reports that Kaizer Chiefs had also scoffed at the offer to bring him to Naturena.

“I believe Miguel needed the opportunity,” Michaels said.

“And that is what we do as agents, we create those opportunities alongside the people that we know. I think he has had a very good career in South Africa – it just needed to be enhanced a little bit more.”

It’s understood that several days after being one of the standout players for Marumo Gallants in the Nedbank Cup final defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns, Timm was close to putting pen to paper at Sekhukhune until Pirates swooped in.

He signed a three-year deal with the Buccaneers in July instead and the midfielder has since also spoken out publicly that he made the right decision for his career.

“No disrespect to any other club that wanted him, but when I created the Pirates opportunity, I did so knowing that he had the ability to play within a club like that. I do see that he is a surprise package for most people, but I am very proud of the fact that I believed in him and the (Pirates) management saw exactly what I saw,” explained Michaels.

“This was a meeting of the minds in terms of making it work out.”
