VYVER ON SUPERSPORT’S WANTED LIST?

-

Lincoln Vyver is believed to be on SuperSport United’s wanted list and the Tshwane-based club could intensify their interest at the end of the season.

The goalkeeper, despite being a 21-year-old, has matured into one of the country’s best young keepers and has established himself as the undisputed number one for both club and country.

Vyver has been playing under for Shaun Bartlett at Cape Town Spurs and the net minder and has also been David Notoane’s first choice for the SA U23 squad.

In fact, Vyver’s performances for the Cape outfit have been so impressive that he earned himself a call-up to Bafana Bafana’s youthful COSAFA Cup squad in June this year, where again he was the preferred number one in goal.

Soccer Laduma understands that SuperSport have identified the youngster as a long-term replacement for their departed captain Ronwen Williams, who left to join Mamelodi

Sundowns at the start of the campaign.

However, a potential stumbling block for coach Gavin Hunt in his pursuit of the young goalkeeper is Spurs’ chase for promotion to the topflight this season.

Spurs currently find themselves in a well-placed fifth position on the log with 11 games played upon entering the two-month FIFA World Cup break, with Vyver a large part of their impressive run.

With Spurs pushing hard for promotion, it is unlikely that the Mother City outfit would want to part ways with one of their key players. The Siya crew understands that a potential deal could depend on whether or not Spurs clinch promotion.
