Chiefs offer Cole for Fleurs?

-

In an ongoing tussle for Luke Fleurs’ signature, the Siya crew has now been informed that Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have offered veteran midfielder Cole Alexander in exchange for the SuperSport United centre-back.

Soccer Laduma has been staying on top of the story and following developments over where Fleurs will eventually end up as he looks likely to leave the Tshwane outfit either before the end of the current season or at the end of it.

Chiefs are understood to now be in officials talks with SuperSport to try get the deal over the line – hoping that Fleurs can join the Glamour Boys when the transfer window re-opens in January to allow them to beef up the squad.

It’s understood that Amakhosi have made the defender one of their priority signings, but clearly aren’t yet ready to splash the cash.

According to information reaching the Siya crew, the Soweto giants have presented a swap deal for Cole to move in the opposite direction.

Those privy to the discussions behind the scenes have questioned whether this is possible given that the 33-yearold has previously played for Matsatsantsa, between 2016 and 2018, prior to then joining the now-defunct Bidvest Wits and then later going to the Indian Premier League for a season to work with Stuart Baxter.

It was Baxter who was key in roping him back to the country as he returned to sign for Chiefs in July last year, with the Englishman also being appointed.

SuperSport, insiders have indicated, may opt for a cash deal, with CEO Stan Matthews telling SABC Sport last week that the club has also received an overseas offer for the player.
