Pirates preparing Mabena deal

-

Following months of being assessed by Orlando Pirates as soon as he became a free agent, before the transfer window slammed shut in September, indications are that Ndumiso Mabena could be offered a contract.

The veteran striker left Royal AM on mutual termination of his employment terms due to not being paid his salary for at least three months and reports immediately linked him with a move to the Soweto giants.

Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro

did also confirm that Mabena has been training with the club, but said that the decision would be up to management on whether he is added to their squad roster for the 2022/23 season.

Although there’s no confirmation of the veteran campaigner putting pen to paper just yet, the good news reaching the Soccer Laduma desk is that not only was Mabena part of the travelling party to the MTN8 final and celebrated with them when they beat AmaZulu FC to clinch the cup, it’s believed a proposal is being prepared.

Mabena can sign for any team of his choice at the moment because of his status as a free agent, but it is believed that the Buccaneers would rather bring him on board at the beginning of the year now that the Premier Soccer League is on recess.

Should the deal go through, as expected, he will join Bucs’ growing list of strikers, in Kermit Erasmus, Evidence Makgopa, Eva Nga, Kwame Peprah and Terrence Dzvukamanja.
