Downs likely to take up Ralani option?

-

The Siya crew has been informed that Mamelodi Sundowns are open to the idea of extending the contract of attacking player Surprise Ralani.

Recently, this publication reported that the Chloorkop-based side have a decision to make on the former Cape Town City player’s future, with his contract expiring in June 2023. It’s understood that the appointment of Rhulani Mokwena as head coach has given the dribbling wizard a bit more hope of securing a new deal with the club.

Ralani is understood to be highlyrated by Mokwena and is expected to get more game-time when PSL football returns after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and once he recovers from the injury he is currently carrying. This will give the 35-year-old an opportunity to keep impressing in the months leading up to the expiration of his contract.

Despite being 35, the Siya crew understands that Sundowns are not averse to the idea of handing the veteran campaigner a contract extension when the current deal comes to an end. The Kimberleyborn man has a one-year option in his contract with the defending league champions and this looks set to be triggered in the coming months.

When he joined the Tshwane giants from the Citizens, Ralani signed an 18-month contract and chances are that he could be given another deal to see out his career at the club, as Mokwena still sees him as a player that could add value to the club going forward.
