SuperSport to pause Nange pursuit?

-

With the January transfer window just weeks away from re-opening, there was talk behind the scenes that Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange could be on the move seeing he’s become a fringe player at Naturena.

The Siya crew reported recently that his former coach Gavin Hunt was keen to reunite with the 30-year-old at SuperSport United.

According to insiders, it had been revealed that the Tshwane outfit were targeting Nange earlier this season prior to getting Siphesihle Ndlovu on a shortterm deal from Orlando Pirates in September.

Although Hunt now had options in the middle of the park with Ndlovu and Grant Margeman on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, the serial winner still held Nange in high regard and was eager to have him add numbers to his squad.

Soccer Laduma now understands that the club is expected to hold off on pushing for the player’s signature next month because that could require a fee, which they are not willing to pay even if it’s at a cut-price.

The feeling, sources have indicated, is that SuperSport are prepared to wait it out until July when Nange becomes a free agent – but that would mean only if Chiefs do not tie the player down to a new contract in the coming weeks.

Nange has only made two appearances this season since Arthur Zwane became the head coach and the likelihood is that he may in fact end up leaving Chiefs on a free transfer, which would suit SuperSport.

But the Siya crew understands that whatever discussions took place behind closed doors have put Matsatsantsa off from their pursuit of Nange to switch six months before his contract with the Glamour Boys expires.
