GALLANTS TO BLOEMFONTEIN IN DISCUSSIONS?

-

Marumo Gallants have held discussion with Bloemfontein Celtic stakeholders with the possibility of relocating to the City of Roses, Soccer Laduma has established despite denials by the club.

The Siya crew has discovered that

Gallants chairman Abram Sello attended a meeting with the Free State group of supporters of the defunct Celtic and proposals were tabled whereby the team promised to relocate from Polokwane.

In fact, according to reliable Siya sources, Gallants plan to stage their DStv Premiership matches at the Bloemfontein Stadium when the season resumes at the end of December.

This publication has further established that Gallants are in serious negotiations with both the PSL as well as the Bloemfontein city council with the aim of utilising the world-famous Bloemfontein World Cup venue, the Free State Stadium, for their matches.

According to the Siya sources, should everything go according to plan, Gallants intend changing their name to Bloemfontein Celtic in the near future.

The only stumbling block at this stage for Gallants is how to wiggle themselves out of contracts they have entered into with both the Polokwane and the North West provincial governments for the use of the Polokwane and Royal Bafokeng Stadiums for their home matches.

In fact, Gallants have already staged their home matches against Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium with relative success, with both games very well attended.

The city of Bloemfontein was left without a Premiership club two years ago when Shauwn Mkhize purchased the Celtic status from Max Tshabalala, renamed the club Royal AM and relocated it to Durban.

Two months ago, Royal AM faced Kaizer Chiefs in the Macufe Cup in Bloemfontein and a section of disgruntled Celtic supporters called for the match to be boycotted and instead organized a picnic in nearby Mangaung.
